    Wrong zip code ? 6 not 9 ?

The Taxbook is GREAT! I really like it.
. . .Check it out, as I may be wrong, but on 16-1:
Under Form 4868, the zip code for CN, IL, IN, MI, MN, etc is(Enclosing a payment = 93197-0028)
Should not that read 63197-0028 ??
. . .PO told me there was no zip code for 93197-0028.

    Sorry for the error.

Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, it is an error. It should be 63197-0028, not 93197-0028.

      Nonrefunable renter's credit

TP receives a per diem for lodging in CA.(non-taxable) He is a full time resident.

May TP take Nonrefunable Renter's Credit? (CA book states "If you were a resident of CA and paid rent on property in CA which was your principal residence, you may qualitfy for a credit that you can use to reduce your tax.") The rent was paid for with the non-taxable per diem. Thanx

If the rent was paid with a tax free per diem reimbursment provided by the employer, did the taxpayer pay rent?

        No

        Who paid the rent?

The employer did - by providing the employee with a tax free per diem reimbursment.
