Yes, the price is up... but I did notice that now they offer free e-file for their products.

I haven't really looked at all the details but will do pretty soon.

They also included the Client Checklist, - Presentation and -Advisor for "free". I guess last year when they charged an extra $200 for these items they didn't have enough customers to buy them. Now we get them for $100 more but don't have a choice.

You generally get what you pay for. Intuit's e-filing is not known for it's server capacity resulting in high backlogs and downtime as you approach key filing dates.

                My opinion

A few years ago they changed the price structure to compete with other packages and my fee dropped substantially. My guess is now they need to make back all the giveaways like free efiling and free 1040 state returns. I am expecting a price increase every year.

I understand that Intuit is one of the highest volume of e-filers in the country. What kind of delays and backlogs do you get? I thought that the turnaround is 24-48 hrs for acknowldegments? How did you know there server capicity is low? Where do you get that information from? Wouldn't that hurt their business if they did not have enough servers. I would think most customers would flee if the service was poor for e-filing.

                  Thanks!

                      My early bird

                      special is $1,386.68,

I have rarely experienced delays for efile.

Only a few times over the years have I uttered bad words about their cust svc. It's true we compete with their other division Turbo, but I still like Intuit's ProSeries.

I have been with Proseries for a number of years and this year the turnaround for efiling was 24 hours or less except on weekends.
Never was I backlogged. Even the state of LA was coming back in 24 hours.
This does not mean that they are worth the money.
When I started with them back in 1990 the price was around half of what it is now but you had to buy a la carte.

PS Turbo Tax has brought me a few customers this year. Had to amend 3 years for one client.
                        Thanks Turbo tax

I think I am sticking with ATX. Full package, fed, all states, business, payroll, trusts, etc. No charge to efile. No price increase, + 10% discount, + Master Tax Guide which I paid $92.36 for last year incl shipping & handling. I take it year by year, but they keep getting better. All tech support in US.

                            Tax Slayer Pro

I continue to read the comments about price, bad turn around time, and problems with support and just want to say again, take a look at Tax Slayer Pro. Nothing is cheaper but there's nothing cheap about the product or service. The price now is $845 but I renewed for $795 if done before May 1st. Support is awesome. They answer quickly and I've never had a problem with support. Unlimited Efile is included in the price as well as all states and the turn around time is phenominal. Usually about 12 hours. I had one acknowledgement in about 6 hours and that was at the very end of the season. I get calls all the time from other companies but when I tell them what I pay and that I'm satisfied, there's not much they can offer me. Take a look. I am totally sold on Tax Slayer.

I have used PS since 1994. I looked at Drake after the tax season but it didn't appeal to me. Just didn't seem as professional as PS. Guess I'll stay put.
