Taxpayer purcased home this past week and would like to apply for the home buyers credit. Can I amend his 08 return to apply for this credit?? Is that the correct process to take?

A. You can either file an amended return to claim it on your 2008 return or claim it on your 2009 return.
By amending the taxpayer receives money quicker, amend or wait to file 2009's tax return, either way is correct.
