    Ea Exam 2009

I have a question for those of you who have taken the EA exam. I passed Parts 1 & 3 in 2008 using the Gleim Test Prep Books & CD Rom. I bought all three parts in 2008. I am not able to take Part 2 Business until this Sep 2009. Would you recommend I buy the updated book & CD Rom for 2009 relating to tax law through December 31, 2008 or would you recommend I just use last years study material through December 31, 2007. I don't want to have to spend another $100 if I don't have to. I am not much familiar with business so I don't know if there were any major changes that would cause me to want to get the updated program. Any advice would be welcome. I am looking forward to becoming an EA by the end of this year.

    Thanks!

$100 is not much compared with the Prometric testing fee

The Gleim materials are very useful and good value in passing the EA exams, although the Part II (and maybe Part III) are the materials that should have the higher priority in most candidates' budget. Paying another $100 to avoid the expense and aggravation of potential re-testing by Prometric just might be a wise investment, depending of course on your quality of preparation for the test and other facets of your individual situation. Another poor man's solution might be to go dig up some tax update materials from IRS sources or from TheTaxBook materials in order to take careful note of changes in law and regulations that occurred during 2008; that would help in your study for the exam anyhow. I noticed when I passed all three parts with Prometric that they do seem to have a moderate amount of greater attention focused upon whatever rules, or picayune numbers, that have changed during a recent year.
