EA exams, exaclty how does it work?

I understand the EA exam can now be taken in parts. Does one register for all parts at once or for each individual part? Is there a window to take all parts and if so what is the window? What happens if you fail one or more parts, is there a waiting period?

Please add any other helpful info.

www.prometric.com/irs will give you all the info you need.

Also, if you are going to any of the IRS Forums, there is a special Wednesday late afternnon session - The Enrolled Agent Workshop.

EA part 1 passed in 2005, can score be transferred?

Upon reading the FAQ on the Prometrics website, it says the following:
"Candidates may carryover scores for the parts passed in 2003, 2004 and 2005,
as long as the the exam results letter did not state that the candidate failed to
meet the minimum retention scores on the parts failed. The IRS will be mailing
letters by September 15, 2006, to candidates who met the retention standard to
carry over. IRS policy regarding carryover is set forth in a June 7, 2006, press
      release, available on this website."

Ok, so I passed Part 1 of the 4 part exam in 2005 (written exam). Does this mean I can jump to part 2 & 3 under the new testing system?

2005 sounds like a long, long time ago. Passing scores which one achieves under the new(er) Prometric testing program itself carry over only for a shorter time interval than the four-year 2005-2009 time interval.

          From the IRS

Candidates applying carryover scores from the IRS format to the Thomson Prometric format may only do so through December 31, 2007. Consequently, individuals who passed part(s) of the 2003, 2004 or 2005 exams (and met prior minimum retention rules for carryover) would have until December 31, 2007 to pass the remaining part(s) of the exam.
