Joanmcq, her website says she has built a 20,000 sq ft building in North Highlands (which I assume is a Sacramento suburb). As far as you know, is this true?

Website gives credit to a hard-working, ambitious college grad who started with nothing and through vision and initiative, has now helped millions of Americans. I nearly puked.

She is in North Highlands; not sure about the 20k sq. ft. building. Or if she just built it and is renting most of it!

And AJ, I really hope you were being sarcastic with your description of Limbaugh!

        Rush

I will become a devoted Limbaugh fan when he lets people on his show who have opposing viewpoints. Don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. All you hear is him and cronies who sit at the mike and say "yes." He has a following of listeners who are enchanted with his style but you never hear the whole truth.

For any readers out there who support him, have you ever wondered why he never airs any opinion different than his own? Even Fox news does that sometimes, and NPR always does it.

I caught the Daily Show this morning. John had Newt Gingrich on for a guest which made for a pretty interesting show.

The real problem is the masses of people who view Rush, Hannity, Stewart or Colbert as something other than entertainment with a shot of news instead of the other way around.

I listen to the NPR in the morning but generally eschew Fox and CNN. Fox because they will beat a couple of news stories to death with endless opinion and CNN because they seem to think that “kitten in the drain” or “senior citizen foils robbery” stories are still newsworthy after the 100th or so iteration.
In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.

            Name-calling

Nothing like getting the blood flowing quickly, eh? This being done with the mention of a name that will everyone knows will always start a firestorm.

Who is Rush's counterpart that we could mention? Please help me out here.

If I am watching TV I'll start with CNN, but after 30 minutes it's like watching reruns as you pointed out. I flip channels back and forth between MSNBC and FOX for entertainment, one is as far left as the other is far right. But, I tend to get more irked with FOX because they constantly claim to be "Fair and Balanced", which is just a total lie. In my opinion they are as fair and balanced as it Rush L.

I actually don't like any of the shows that are so completely one sided, even if they do happen to be pushing something that I am for. But to answer your question:

Probably Keith Olberman. He is so jealous of other's ratings that in between most of his mean comments, he spends most of the time making nasty comments about them. On rare occasions, he will accidentally let a piece of news slip into the show.

And I read recently, that the so called Ivy League education he is always touting that he has, actually isn't. He talks about Cornell. It seems that he didn't attend the Ivy League branch, but instead attended a cousin (a primarily agriculture school) to get a journalism degree.

What's that line about statistics lying?

                LT
Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

Actually, I was thinking of Al Franken when he worked at Air America (honestly, no offense intended to my friends in MN). Also, Air America had some gal on that had quite a loud, nasty mouth on her. Her name escapes me for now, but I can hear her words.

The statistics thing, would the answer be "whoever is reading them"?

I think that I know who you mean. I can picture her but can't remember her name. One of the other Air America hosts, Rachel Maddow, is now the show that MSNBC has following Olberman.

                      Dennis,

Is the name you are looking for, Jeanine Girafolo? And this may be one of the best examples of fouling up the spelling of a name ever done.

                        LT,

No, she is not the one. I think she is Keith Olberman's co-host on a few of his shows. He gets great political insight from her. She's a good one to have around any discussion, no matter how often.

Not to worry about misspelling her name. I messed up Franken's yesterday. Did not look right when I typed it and saw the correct spelling late last night on TV.

                          Ronnie Deutsch

She was for disbarred from the California Bar Assoc. She was arrested & then prosecuted by the IRS & the District Attorney as well as many of her friends and families for helping her hide her millions of ill-gotten gains.

Maybe I dont' keep with current events too well, but I seem to recall IRS put both Harris and Deutsch out of business about 2 years ago. In fact Deutsch was permanently enjoined not to do what she was doing.

But i guess that if a local EA who was stealing 941 money from her client can go to jail for a year, and then get her EA back, there's hope for anyone. Sad

                              Roni

Roni Deutsch surrendered her attorney license and is facing felony charges by the state. All the big providers, Roni, JK Harris and Tax Masters are out of business and in legal trouble. That leaves the work to little guys like me who don't make fantastic promises or charge fantastic fees.
