    Solar Enregy Credit for Rental

My client put solar panels on a residential rental. Clearly this does not qualify for the Energy Credit on Form 5329. My feeling is it does not qualify for the Energy Credit on Form 3468 either becasue a rental is not a business. So am I right that I just depreciate the panels and there are no credits?

It doesnt qualify because a rental is not a personal residence of the taxpayer. It is depreciable however. Where the client really loses is the electric company credit that he can't claim.
DIY programs are not a replacement for a good tax pro
