        Price

I have used CPE Depot for a while now but my only criticism would be that what they provide is essentially a theoretical overview of the subject rather than a hands on course where I can actually work out problems. So far I have been able to make up the difference with IRS Pubs and instructions and TTB.

          Rats!

The www.cpedepot.com site says Arkansas and ten other states don't accept CPE from them. Can't imagine why 'cause they're EA approved and fed standards are usually higher than states..

Good prices too: $149 for new members & $129-renewers as opposed to the www.mypescpe.com I've been using. I need 24 hours and PES cost is $104.50 per 12 hours of useful/non-junk courses.

What did we use to call those college courses that were easy and a sure thing to pass? Maybe that's Arkansas' complaint -- odd though, since we're #49 (thank God for Mississippi) in everything else and why be picky about this?

Are the CPEDEPOT courses hard/easy/what? I think PES is pretty easy.

            Cpe Depot

I like CPE Depot due to the fact of the cost and some of the materials.
Wouldn't say it is exactly easy, there is a lot of material to review. I have also used some of the material as reference.

Usually, I will spend up to $1500/yr for CPE. I've always tried to get the most out of each course I took. This year, money is tight, and so am I. This year I'm going for the CPE credits, and if I get any real education then I'll feel lucky.

                CPE Depot vs PES

To me the difficulty levels are comparable. They are un-timed open book objective tests and the right answers are all in sequential order in a book no bigger than a large paperback novel. Most of the questions involve fairly basic information about the topic. I personally make it a practice to read the text and do the practice tests first. I think CPE Depot makes you at least open the practice tests and click finished after scrolling to the end and I don't remember but it may be necessary to do the same thing with each chapter of the reading material. I could probably pull a passing score on Ethics, 1040s and S Corps without reading but I want to learn and I want to score well on the tests.

                  unlimited

I have used them in the past and unless they have changed, you could get as many hours as you wanted. If taken within the year time limit, you could get a lot of hours for the one low price.

                    CPE Depot

I use them because the price is right. A lot of the questions are about things such as how much is an exemption allowance and other things the computer does for you, which is of very little value in improving your knowledge. However some of the material is helpful.

In my opinion, the REAL CPE is the research you have to do to deal with real live situations you encounter that never come up in CPE courses.

Of course, you would be completely unethical if you did not take those ethics courses which tell you that if you lie, steal and cheat you are not being ethical. CPE Depot has two different ethics courses.
