    Memory Chips

For what it is worth, during tax season I was having problems with my computer getting very slow. I thought it was going to die on me. I had to reboot several times and was getting a message about expanding memory or something like that.

I have several old computers( not that old) and I removed the memory chip from it (512) and added it to my working computer......... WOW what a difference it made. Every application just pops in.

I know memory chips are cheap and could get more than an additional 512 but I was just testing to see if that was one of my problems>>>and it was. Just thought I would pass on my discovery to the board.

By the way> while you have your computer open be sure to vaccum or blow it out> that also helps.

Other options to use may help

While memory chips may be an issue (depends on how old "old" is for your computer!) you may wish to try the Occam's Razor approach first.

Periodically run a Disk Cleanup from your systems tools section. Even something as simple as Defrag can make a difference! Trash rattling around on your hard drive can slow things down significantly. Check to see what is in your start up menu - another source of items than can quickly drag down a computer's efficiency.

It goes without saying you should frequently run Microsoft updates and anti-virus checks.

Finally a product such as Iolo's System Mechanic is good to have. It has several options, to include management of the registry, bad links, and much more.
