    TRX Alliance

is offering a $2000,00 (TaxWise UTS) for $300.00. 1040, all states, free unlimited e-file, etc. etc. Business program is $700 against big bucks for TWise

Anyone have any experience with TRX.

They claim the whole program runs through TaxWise, and TRX is the support site.

I,ve been using TWise for 18 years, great program, horrible CCH, sounds like a way to aviod CCH without changing programs.

    More information than you want!

I used them for the last two seasons. TRX offered IntelliTax for 2007, which was purchased by CCH and discontinued for 2008. In 2008 TRX substituted TaxWise, and in 2009 they are also offering ATX at the same price. I've already renewed for 2009.

One clarification - the $299 version of TaxWise INCLUDED all the business programs, but e-file is restricted to the individual returns only.

There is a whole forum dedicated to discussing the TRX deals. See

TRX Good Outfit as long as you never leave them

I had TRX's version of Intellitax the last year that program was available and I have nothing but good to say about TRX and their customer service during the time I was using their product. The phone was always answered by the third or fourth ring during their generous open hours, and they had people who could answer questions about tax theory. The problem I have had since is that I can't get them to stop calling me and sending me email about things their users need to do including sign up again. Everyone who has contacted me has been under the impression that I am a current client even though I never paid them for this year. They even mailed me the Taxwise Software and manual. Furthermore apparently there were problems with Taxwise (at least their version) doing updates because they mailed me an apology and a promise I took to mean that for this coming year they would write their own package and not have Taxwise. I guess those plans went by the wayside as they now are offering two versions of ATX in addition to two versions of Taxwise. .

        Think they called

I think they called the other day and left a message. I thought it was TaxslayerPro calling and I had just talked to them so I deleted the message. When I checked my caller ID, it said TRX.

$300.....but I only have 5 days left to renew with TaxslayerPro and get my early renewal discount.

I would have to reenter all the information instead of it just coming forward. That is a lot of work.

Guess I need to think about it quickly.

When I had intellitax through TRX they offered free conversions but that wasn't a big deal for me since my previous provider was intellitax through another vendor who had made me mad by not making NC individual or business available until 3/15. Anyway I think you should at least call TRX to see what they can do for you.

I personally would go into tax season planning to hand write returns before I went into it planning to use Tax Slayer. I am too concerned by offhand comments from people who like and use the program that oh this or that state is weak and entities are weak especially if they involve more than one state.

Did you use TaxslayerPro for several years?

                Yes

I used TaxSlayer for several years before going with TaxWise through TRX. I had always wanted a forms approach software and thought I was getting IntlelliTax. In the process I wound up with TaxWise and was pleased as I had used Taxwise before going with TS Pro.
TaxSlayer is a good program, but TaxWise is a better program. TRX also offers ATX programs. You really should check them out. .

                  Which is better?

If TRX offers both TaxWise and ATX, which is the better program? I looked at the link but that was ATX message board so they only talk about ATX.

                  What are the differences?

Guess I will check them out. If I don't change, it will just cost me a little more for TaxslayerPro.

                    Check to entire ATX Community

Try this link to the ATX community. It shows all the groups. There are threads just for TRX and in the general chat, there are at least two threads including a poll for who on the board are switching or staying with ATX. TRX has answered many questions including ones from Doug Hughes who is the president of TRX.

                      Ordered from TRX

Okay, I ordered from TRX today. They will send me both programs, Taxwise and ATX, to try out. Then I just let them know which one I like best and that is the one they will send to me in the fall.

I hope I have done the right thing.

I am having sciatic nerve problems for 2 weeks now. Been going to chriopractor and massage therapist and am getting better very slowly. Laying down is my problem. I haven't been able to sleep on my bed since last Thursday night. So I am trying to function on 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night. My mind isn't processing well so I hope I made a good decision.

Linda, You will find that ATX is a forms based software; TW is a menu driven program. TW is used by the IRS. Only you can decide which meetsyour needs. Good luck.
I hope you get some relief from your pain. Sciata eventually works itself out but is painful in the meanwhile.

TRX is offering their new program free to all who want to be beta testers. That's in addition to the ATX or TW program you pay for. Do check out the threads on the ATX Community. One forum specifically for TRX. Plus within the general chat forum, search on TRX to find the threads.

Think I'll give TRX a try.

                            Linda and Chief,

I use TS Pro and had thought about trying something else. I am not unhappy with the software, but want to try something cheaper. I don't like having to cough up $800 two weeks after tax season ends.

I am a home-based business and only grow through referrals. Therefore, I need to look at alternatives. This will give me a chance to test some other software and convert over the summer if I change.

Glad this topic materialized as I got my second call from TSP today.

                              change renewal date

I told TaxslayerPro when they called that it would be very helpful if they would give us until the middle or end of May to renew. I told him that if I had people working for me, I might have time to think about renewal right now. But I still have returns I am working on. I have quarterly bookkeeping and quarterly payroll reports to do. I don't slow down till the end of April. I haven't had time to even think about renewal. I guess that is what they are hoping....that you don't have time to check out any other companies and so you just stay with them.

I told the man I talked to at TRX the same thing. Give us a month after April 15 to choose our software.

I am like you, Peachie. I work from my home. My new clients come from referrals. I have actually lost some bookkeeping accounts due to businesses closing. So I need to look at how I am spending my money. Should have been looking at that for a couple of years now, but seems like there is never enough time. Anyway, if I can get a program that I like for less than half of what I have been paying, I'll be happy.

I can use that other $400 to go to the beach and listen to my ocean.
