    recovery rebate credit

I've already had three clients call because they received letters from the IRS stating they are receiving an additional refund amount because they are due an addition to the recovery rebate credit. Very weird since I can't determine and my software couldn't determine that they were due any extra credit.

    possibilities

The clients I've had call with that were ones that I just plain missed it. One didn't get the max last summer because of income phaseout; this year had lower income so entitled to more.

Just tell them it's Bush's fault - that excuse is still very much in vogue. It probably has another 18-24 months of life in it.

Score one for the good guys, I mean if the IRS says my client is getting more back great.
On a serious note how about going to www.irs.gov and checking for yourself based on what you know. Maybe the IRS is right and they are entitled to more.

          Checked every client

TaxslayerPro prompted me to enter the amount they received and it had the link to IRS website. So I just automatically checked every one I did.

Half of the people would say "Did I get that money? I don't remember getting any money"
Well, IRS says they sent it to you.
