    Forced move - no job

Client forced to move (foreclosure on rental home). Moved across the country and no job involved. I have searched RIA tax cases and have found none that would allow moving costs deduction. Any ideas?

    not deductible

Moving only deductible when job related.

      Well

if there is no job involved I don't believe he can deduct the moving expenses. When did he move? Is it still possible that he will land a job and work it enough to qualify the move? If you file the return with no moving expenses and find that he later qualifies to deduct them you can always amend to claim them.

Kram is correct but the job does not have to be obtained before the move. It just has to be obtained and begun in time to meet the requirements.

Sorry, that was a song way back when. But, I think Black Bart will agree that that is the simple answer.
