Would approx $12000 of Employer paid relocation exps need to be on the employee's W-2 some where with some type of code? Employee tells me the $12K was included in Box 1 but the only code I see is "P" Exclude Reimbursed Moving Exps. Is it possible the Employer did not wait to reimburse but instead advanced it therefore no detailed reporting on the W-2?

Follow up question..
Assuming the employer advanced $12k of relo expenses and was included in box 1 of the employees W-2 so its been taxed, I would then complete a form 3903 and enter the actual relo exps the employee had, sound correct? But, the employee only partially relocated in 2008 in which the complete and final relocation will take place in 2009. Can I file another 3903 in tax year 2009?
