If you have more than four dependents, you have to list them on an attachment.

If you have more than four children, see Form 312694, Contraceptive Implant Credit. This form is expected to be available in 2047, when Chelsea Clinton is President of the United States.

Well I KNEW you couldn'y squeeze 8 dependents into that little space on the 1040 form itself. Of course you have to add an attachment, but its still part of the 1040 form.

AMT will kick in after so many dependents, since the dependent exemption is not allowed for AMT. For example, a married couple with $60,000 and 10 kids would probably pay zero regular tax after itemized deductions and the dependent exemption, but would be subject to AMT since the AMT exemption for MFJ is only $58,000 in 2005 and drops to $45,000 for 2006.

I have a client who now has 9 children. He and his wife become foster parents a couple of years ago. Because they will take siblings, the court has placed many children with them. In 2005, they adopted 6 of them and the adoption is pending on 3 more.

They have had others in the home for a few months and then back to parents.

This is after raising 4 children already that are now grown. One was adopted and the other 3 were from one family that the court placed in their care. One of the boys changed his name legally when he turned 18. They are such a loving couple. I really admire them.

My wife and I raised 7 of our own, so I know you can at least claim THAT many. Happily for us they are all now out on their own and we are living in our" golden"? years.
