    2010 Estate Tax

When the "Bush Tax Cuts" were announced back in 2002, he proudly announced that he and the Republican congress had finally put an end to the Estate Tax.

Almost all of us on the board know better, and that the changes for 2010 and subsequent changes for 2011 made that a sham. But I firmly believed that in the years between then and now, someone up there would actually do something about the travesty.

I'm hearing the Obama administration has targeted the 2010 hibernation of the estate tax as a source of revenue, should they be successful in rescinding it.

Whether they change it, or even if they don't, this item is HUGE for people such as ourselves. Let's keep an eye on developments. If anyone has the latest scoop, I for one would like to hear it.

By-the-way, Bush really didn't do ANYONE a favor in 2010 if a death in that year loses stepped-up basis for survivors.

Just What Were We Going to Say?

Boy, this one really got a rousing response, didn't it?

Yes, we're all concerned about the 2010 Estate tax, but just exactly how do you respond to a post like this?? I suppose you just don't...

      My very limited 2 cents

I would like to garner a portion of the estate tax market as far as consultation and fees go. I am working on something right now because I do not think that preparing tax returns alone pays the bills well enough.

      I will keep you posted
