Donated but received something in value?

I believe we all know the rules on this but how many of your clients do you believe come clean on this when they donated to a charity and received say a concert ticket, round of golf etc.

We have this "Health and Wealth" raffle for a major PHX hospital.

I am impressed that in their rules and regs, they mentioned the donation as not tax deductible but I have seen so many other charities, especially our Public TV station, who give something in value in exhange for donations to make it sound like the entire donation is tax deductible.

Charities must acknowledge the donation in writing and specifically mention the amount
deductible after receipt of such freebies.

This is a raffle which is never deductible as a charitable contribution.

The most common situation I've sean are tickets to a charitable dinner at a local church, fire station, etc. where the value of the meal is greater than the cost of the ticket, but the ticket reads "tax deductible".
