A dumb question, but I can't find the answer. If a couple is just now filing their '07 return, can get a stimulus check once it's filed? I thought the return needed to be filed by 10/15/08 to receive one.

Not for the 2007 return
They will need to file their 2008 tax return and you will mark TW -1 for no rebate and then they will receive their rebate on the 2008 tax return or it will credit and reduce their amount owed.
