Alabama Question

Any Alabama preparers? ChEAr$, maybe you can help.

On Page 2, the Alabama Form 40, Part VI has a question as follows:

Do you have income included in this return from a grantor trust?

I will have a couple clients who have such income. Where is Alabama headed with this question, and what should I be on the lookout for??

Beats me

There is nothing in the Alabama form 40 instructions which answer the question. And I've never had to check "yes' anyway.

But I would venture to say check yes only if said income is subject to Alabama taxation.
