I've used both. Drake is much cheaper and has great customer support.

Lacerte has lousy support but is much easier for complicated returns or business returns and puts out prettier schedules, letters, and invoices.

In the case of the recovery rebate credit, it appears both Lacerte and Drake offer diagnostics.

So I understand what you're saying, but at the same time the most expensive does not always mean the best.
You are right Price does not always equal the best, but when it comes to something that I use everyday of my life Price is not my overriding concern, that is the point I am trying to make. I did not offer my opinion to start a tax software war of sorts, just my observations.
I have never used drake just seen it and listen to others who have and for the types of returns I do if would not make me more efficient, to me that costs money.

Regardless of the software, I still maintain that the most efficient thing you can do is devise ways to keep your clients out of your office so you can get some work done.

I can get more done on Saturday with the door locked and not answering the phone than the entire rest of the week!

Also, I surely hope no one is going to lose a client over missing the RRC! Come on, if they did not bring the letter, or look up the SP amount on the web page titled, "How Much Was My Stimulus Payment?" at least some of the responsibility is on them. (The web page is not titled "How Much Was My Client's Stimulus Payment".)

Yes, I am checking the page. Yes, I missed two early on. But those two clients were happy as pigs in slop that they got more money. They did not blame me at all. If I had a client that left me over the RRC, I would hope the door doesn't hit (ahem) him on the way out.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
