    1096 & W-3 question

Client prepared these forms, but is not sure they were filed. Is there an easy way to check with SS & IRS to verify receipt? If they can not confirm receipt, should they just send them in anyway, problem if duplicates are filed? On other hand late filing penalty? What would you suggest?

When my clients tell me they're "not sure" if they did something, I always assume that to mean they know they didn't do it but don't want to admit it to me.

      simply

      mark them all as "D U P L I C A T E" and send em on to Wilkes Barre (SSA) and
IRS service center for your area for the 1099's.
