My client worked fo rone employer and has $787 withheld for CA SDI. My software says the maximum it should be is $694. If his employer will not fix this and my client does not care about the $93 can I e-file the CA return or should I paper file it? Also would you deduct $694 or $787 on Schedule A?

Ca Sdi
The employer over collected, so for the employee to receive they would have to contact the employer for the refund. Calif will not refund excess SDI unless it is a result of two or more employers.
Schedule A adjust to the $694 which is the maximum (my software carries from W-2 entry so I usually adjust the amount there), so it won't flow through to Calif as an over collect of SDI, So you should be able to efile.
