    CA extensions

My client owns a rental property in Ca. They are on IRS extension. They may or may not owe CA some tax on the rental as some years they are slightly to the positive and some to the negative. Ca only wants extensions when you owe. If they don't pay anything to CA now and then file in June and owe $25 or $50 what will CA do?

I believe your client will be notified of penalties and small interest. Can't they send a check in for a $100-200 to cover this small amount and kill the p/i?

CA is broke and in deep kaka right now. They/I want every dime they/I can get their/my hands on.

      CA Extensions

An extension to file is not required by Calif. it's automatic. Penalties and interest will be charged for balance due returns.
