    Direct Deposit in NC?

Do they do this? I cannot find any form or space on the NC D400 for it.

    Here in MN

there is a place on the MN worksheet that one check's a box for direct deposit or direct withdrawal. And then when the form is printed it gives the routing/acct # just 5 lines above where the tp signs.

      DD on NC

I am in Illinois. I did my first NC return. This return will be DD but proseries had option on it's worksheet which allowed for DD. Are you doing Efile or mail in?

No efile signature required for NC

You can direct deposit in NC if you efling, but not if you paper file. Either way, NC is delaying refunds right now since nobody in Raleigh has been reading the newspapers so the economic downturn caught them by surprise. Bottom line is it may not make much difference in how long it takes to get their NC refund.

H-m-m-m: Another one of those newfangled ideas originating in CA that I'd just as soon you guys keep out there on the left coast.

In TaxWise, the option is on page 1 of the form.

                Yes NC

John H is right, article in the NC papers this last week, but I don't believe they threatened IOU's, just that the refunds were "delayed, behind, slow, etc"

Amazing how Calif all of a sudden came up with the money around 3/6/09 to start releasing refunds. I think they were worried about a "taxpayer revolt". I didn't expect Calif to release any refunds prior to 4/15/09.

Dennis, if you will remember, we had a similar situation I think it was in the early '90's in Calif, and IOU's were released then!

I was not preparing returns in the early '90s, but don't remember any delay, as I had a lousy tax guy who always informed me I owed, big-time, Fed and state. I just paid up and never gave it a second thought.

If my tax preparer can't guarantee me a refund, I'm going to somebody else that knows more than he does.

Thanks, John. I'm like you, I don't efile. And I am encouraging all my clients not to be paying in excessive amounts of state income tax anymore due to all these delays in sending refunds out. Same in my state. I have given out beaucoups of state w/holding forms to have the amounts reduced or eliminated in some cases. I have quite a few that would not have to file the state at all if it weren't to get the withholding back.

That would be a close correctemundo! We like to experiment with things and then pass along what we found works for everyone. It's a neat way of doing things.
