    Company out of business-No W-2

Client worked for firm that went out of business during the year. Apparently, they did not issue any w-2s. What needs to be done in order to get the return filed?

Do a substitute for W-2 (Form 4852) try and get all the information off the last pay sub if possible. Explain on the form the pertinent information etc. go from there.

IRS now also requires that the employee report to them the lack of receiving a w-2. Has your client made any attempts to obtain the W-2...that needs to be included on the substitute form. taxea
