Have a client that went to FL and worked on a cruise ship. They go out for days and come back to port and dock in FL and he lived in FL for 1/4 year. Never been on one so no clue what island or whatever they are called where they go - out in the water somewhere. They have on the W-2 - box 1 and box 2 - nothing else - no social security wages or medicare. Why is there no social security or medicare and do I need to do anything special. Never had this before - has anyone had this.

Just finished
one. There was no FICA or Medicare tax, there was fed income tax witheld. I looked up a way to pay the SS tax and found there is no way to pay more than your employer withholds. If you find something more than I did please let me know.Comment
