    New 5405

    I got a update today for the new 5405(first time home buyer) looks good but so far it has to be paper filed. I would like to know when other software companies have it ready to E-File. I use Proseries Pro.

    The form is available in Drake but cannot be efiled yet. According to the info posted at the Drake support site, the IRS is not ready to accept returns with the new 5405.

      The IRS reject preventing the $8,000 from efile is code 0356. I would expect when IRS updates the reject description that is when the e-file will be allowed to go through, at least for the IRS. Should be a simple update for the software though, they probably already can already create the efile just stop you because of the IRS. So when the IRS starts accepting it software just needs to remove the audit/error.
