I am a little confused as to the PIN number on the signature line and couldn't find anything in the instructions. I also don't recall ever seeing this. What is this PIN # for?

Right. They don't need a PIN if you are not submitting the form through e-services.
Are you aware that you can actually file the Form 2848 online, if you have the right level of access to e-services?
Filing the form through e-services loads the POA into the CAF almost immediately. You can then call the IRS and discuss the client's tax return, usually within 30 minutes or less...
What are you planning to do with the POA? Fax it to the IRS?

I am signed up with e-services but was wondering if I just could file 2848 using e-services. I was convinced that they would want to see the physical signature as well. It appears this is not the case? Or do I need to fax or mail anyway later on?
So far I have used e-services mainly for TIN matching. But I am signed up for all kinds of things.
