    Late EF refunds?

Mine which were due at the bank last Friday (13th) aren't showing up again today (20th). Anybody else have late ones?

P.S. Yeah, I know the IRS chart's not guaranteed, but it's always been reliable except for once a couple of years ago.

Some early - some late. More than usual are late.

I'm getting calls everyday about the late ones, gees, that was a busy week so lots of calls. "Where's my refund" shows deposit by Feb 24Th. Wow, they could have mailed the returns and gotten the refund faster.

        Several

We have had several filed on cycle ending FEb 5 that are late and show to be deposited on Tues the 24th.
        Why??
        No one seems to know.

Agree refund cycle chart has been super reliable in the past. This year . . . not so much. Loads of delayed refunds. Can't find a common thread.

I thought it had something to with the Recovery Rebate Credit. Early in the season, we were told that if there was anything other than a ZERO on line 70, the returns were being delayed and won't be released for 8-12 weeks. Now we are being told that not having the accurate figure on line 70 is delaying the returns.

Bottom line is, you are correct, no one really knows for sure, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it has a lot to do with the recovery rebate credit. I think they are holding the refunds to make sure they have it right. Then again, that's just my opinion.
That's all I have to say ... for now.

              Me too!

I've been experiencing the same issue.

We're getting in a few now.

Checked with three clients and theirs showed up late this morning (a week past due). Our local bank says they usually get them in on Fridays, but all day long and at no certain time.

Different clerks give different delivery dates, so I tried wv112's "Where's My Refund?" link (had forgotten that it existed) and it basically gave the same dates as the clerks had.

I think they know more about the reason for the delay than they say because the conversation gets to a certain point and they become a bit evasive.

P.S. Our biggest complainer just now called in to say they got theirs.

                  Same is true here.....

Had three returns filed at the same time with a refund due date of 2/13/09. Two came through on the 13th and the other hit today. The one that came through today showed a date of 2/24/09 on the IRS website. None of these returns had any RRC or anything unusual (that I noticed!)

Same here, but the 24th was updated to today. I haven't received any calls today asking where's my refund so I am chalking it up to the fact that it was Friday the 13th!?! I'm not superstitious but it sounds good. I continue to tell people "do NOT spend it before you get it, and do NOT panic if it is not there on/by the anticipated date".

I was just about to post my own message about late refunds when I saw this.
