    Recovery Rebate Credit

I have clients now that is going to get their refund really late because of that rebate credit. Suspose to get refund on the 13th and now about the 24th. That is even later than mail it to them.

Should I just by pass that credit for everyone or still put it in and hope for the best?

The latest missive that I saw from the IRS was that you are to enter the credit. According to them, it should never be more than one payment cycle late, if at all. I don't understand where the 24th came from, since the normal payment dates are on Fridays and the next cycle should have been the 20th.

Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

      Include it

I believe you should prepare the return correctly, which means including the RRC if it applies. You can explain to the client that this may delay their refund and there is nothing you can do about it because it appears to be an IRS problem. If you do not include the RRC, the IRS will calculate it anyway and this is likely to delay the return.

Yes, I am adding that but I have called my software and IRS and both said on 2 clients they would get theirs on the 24th. Why that date, I haven't a clue. They don't have back taxes to pay; child support; school loans out or nothing either. It is a mystery to me----and them too!

Agree with Friday refund payment dates, but the refund hotline seems to now give the date as the Tues following the expected Friday date --- maybe to allow mail and/or bank deposit processing time?? With date given as 24th (Tues) I'd expect funding on the Friday before- on the 20th. So, just one week past expected date of 13th. I

on my own return, i was told deposit on the feb. 10th, but it was in my checking account on the 6th., so it appears irs is using a tuesday, put deposits on the friday before. maybe they are allowing for mail, and banks to deposit.

I don't see a rhyme or reason for the delay in payments. I have two clients that were suppose to receive their refund on Feb 13, but IRS refund status says return being process if no mistakes are found will receive refund by the 24th.

They both had the slips from the IRS, I checked the IRS stimulus status and it matched the amounts entered and no extra RRC was calculated.

I tried to find anything else the returns had in common and the only other item is the additional child tax credit.

Before all the RRC error delay talk I had a return that was calculated incorrect - taxpayer said she received $600, but actually received $900. It was suppose to be deposited on Feb 6, and it was but $300 less so it did not cause a delay.

                Delayed or expedited

I don't think there is any set pattern/program/schedule that you can go by -- it all just seems to be by chance or by what IRS bunch is handling your stuff or maybe if you're an Acquarius. We had five due 2-13 and they said they'll be there tomorrow (17th) rather than the 24th like they told you, but who can tell? Mine may not show up 'til the 24th either.

I'm going to emphasize possible times delays more than I have been. Don't know what's happening here -- we had some two week delays about three years or so ago, but since then 99% of ours have come through every Friday until now. I'd be happy to give some IRS clerk a cussin' if I could just find one that knows enough to be guilty of anything.

                  Crystal Ball

We also have had many clients that should have been funded one week and they were a week late. We also had clients receive them one week early.

Anyones guess is as good as mine.

Yeah it's bizarre and I cannot predict what returns are going to be late with any accuracy, so I'm just telling everyone that IRS estimates are just that, an estimate.

Every year I have told them that, but the last couple of years it just seems the dates were so dead on accurate it has the taxpayers spoiled.
