Anybody else experiencing no IRS direct deposits for client refunds today? I've had six clients call and nothing has showed up at their banks.

Late Deposits for E F today?

Thankfully, no calls here. I always remind my clients that the deposit date is only an estimate by the IRS and that they are not bound to the schedule. Of course the day is still young and I might yet get some calls. Maybe I will tell them their refund is delayed so that Congress can spend it for the stimulus plan : )

Like KBTS I remind the deposit date is only an estimate and DON'T spend it before you get it in case it is not there on that date! They only hear what they want to hear.

If the client is receiving additional rebate money, it is possible that their refund will be delayed by one payment cycle. If it was filed late in the payment cycle, such as on Wednesday, pulled for review and then put back into the "loop" for repayment late Thursday or Friday, it will cause this problem. If it was early in the cycle, it would get put back in in time to be on schedule.
LTOnly in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

Money back MINUS States debt
First I heard this.
IRS will deduct any debt owed {actually 3rd party company) to your local state from previous years. My brothers girlfriend was in a payment plan with the state and they took the balance from the federal today anyway.
Bummer... Something new for the clients to whine about....Matthew Jones

I R S
E-file desk advised that (for some unknown reason) five of those six clients' refunds would be deposited on the 17th instead of today. I know the date's not guaranteed, but the IRS chart has been reliable and this is unusual -- all our EF/DD refunds have hit the banks exactly on Fridays until this week.
