I wish No Ill
on anyone, but this article somehow implicates that Geithner used Turbo Tax!
Did he actually prepare his own Tax Return and use Turbo Tax??
If so, then this is a feather in our cap as "Professionals" as we could have advised him that the extra taxes were due at the time of filing, something that Turbo Tax can't tell you, particularly if the information inputted is omitted.
Interesting!

Letter from my senator
I wrote our two senators and thought I would share the one that seemed the most personal (I suspect many received this one!)
Dear Mr. and Mrs. So and So:
I have received your letter expressing concern about the nomination of Mr. Timothy Geithner to be Secretary of the Treasury. Like you, I believe that during this difficult time it is critical that the Treasury Department be led by a capable Secretary that can swiftly address the significant economic challenges facing our country.
President Obama made clear that Timothy Geithner was his choice to be Treasury Secretary and in his view the most capable candidate to lead the Treasury Department. On January 26, 2009, I joined 59 of my Senate colleagues in confirming his nomination to be Treasury Secretary. I am hopeful that he will work closely with President Obama and Congress to lead the Treasury Department in a new direction.
I understand your concerns about Mr. Geithner's tax errors and his record as President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As you know, following an audit of his tax returns while working at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), it was found that he had failed to pay a portion of his payroll taxes. As an international institution, the IMF does not withhold the payroll taxes of its employees, but rather provides additional compensation for employees to file as self-employed workers. While Mr. Geithner paid all of his income taxes during this time, he regrettably failed to pay the additional payroll taxes required.
Like you, I adamantly believe that all Americans should pay their fair share of taxes.
(My favorite part) Although Mr. Geithner erred, and I agree that this is a serious matter, he reported his full income, and there is no evidence that he intended to defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) . Additionally, the IRS has reported that more than half of employees in similar situations incorrectly file their tax returns.
Please know that I will be closely monitoring Mr. Geithner's performance in his new role. I also want to reiterate that I take the duty to pay taxes very seriously, and I voted for Mr. Geithner despite my concerns about his tax errors largely to give the new President the benefit of the doubt and the opportunity to move quickly to help the economy.
Once again, thank you for writing. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office.
Best regards.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

Well, back in the campaign someone asked Kay Hagan about a legislative matter, and she was famously quoted as responding "I'll let you know when I get there". I guess she hasn't gotten there yet..."The only function of economic forecasting is to make astrology look respectful" - John Kenneth Galbraith
