Taxable Health Insurance Premiums for partner

    Okay.
If a t/p has health insurance for her girlbriend {domestic partner for NY purposes) and pays additional premiums for the health insurance he was told that the additional funds tha the company provides for this coverage is treated as income to him and must be reported at tax time.

This is a first for me.
Does anyone know where I can obtain additional information on this?

    Thanks in advance..

    True but

Yes, there is imputed income. The only issue is the IRS has never issued regs to tell us the proper formula for arriving at the imputed wages. Most employer's figure the highest amount possible to vover themselves.

      The partner's premiums

are taxable to him also. They are treated as guarantee payments.

He then takes a deduction on his personal return above the line for his premiums.
