Refund applied to next year in error

Aloha,
My office hit the send button on a return before it was done and a large refund has been applied to next year and they wanted it back as a refund.

I hear amending won't work. I"m on hold with the IRS right now. Has anybody been in this situation?

Have dealt with this before on paper returns, signed by TP, and that is correct. No way to get it back until he files next year.

However, if this was indeed a preparer efile error, maybe you can grovel....... would like to know if you are somehow successful.
