    First-time homebuyer?

MFJ couple in Wisconsin (community property state).

Wife bought home in 1990's and lived there entire time til it sold summer of 2008. Got married in 2000; husband moved into her house. He was never added to the title. When the closing papers were done on the sale of it though both he and she were on the closing papers.

Question: I know she is not a first-time homebuyer, but is he?

No. I had to research this just last night --- one spouse on deed to old home, the other was not on the deed. Forget where I found the answer, but if I have a chance, I'll look again, and post the link. If one spouse had ownership in a primary residence, the other spouse does not qualify as FTHB.
