    Nondividen D Distributions

I have a 1099 div That has box 3 for nondividend distributions with an amount in it. That is the only information given on this 1099. Where do I report it. I elected line 21 of 1040 because it would not fit anywhere else on the divident statement. At least it got reported. How would you handled it?

Non-dividend distributions are return of capital and are taxable only if basis in stock has been fully recovered.

When the basis of the stock has been reduced to zero report any additional non dividend distribution that you receive as a capital gain. Long or short term as appropriate.
