    Dependent

    I know this should be a no brainer but....If a taxpayer is living with his girlfriend and provides all her support and for the kids in the home but is not married so legally the kids are not actual step children yet ....Can he claim them all as dependents? ugh!!!

          Walk thru the criteria for Qualifying relative, if meets tests can be dependents, but not Head of Household, Child Tax or EIC.
