Mainland residents with HI rental property

I have a client who resides in one of the 48 states (all of 2008) and has a rental property currently rented in Hawaii. Do they need to file a HI tax return?

absolutely...Hawaii doesn't let anyone get away with not paying and they have a General Excise Tax that needs to be paid on the gross income. If this is a vacation rental there is also a transient tax. taxea
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

        State Return

I agree. Had a client just like this one. The first year HI was not accepting efiled returns.
