Standard Deduction Increase - Property Taxes

Just wanted to check to see your views on this:

Client lives in a home that is owned by their parents, but client pays the property taxes. Property tax bills are in parents' names as is the deed. The way I read the rules for the increased standard deduction for property tax, the individual must own the property in order to claim the increased amount. Agree?

On the other side of the coin, it doesn't matter how many properties a person has, all
property tax paid is eligible within the limits. Except of course any tax taken as a deduction
    on schedules c or f or e.

Yes, I would agree with you, also agree with ChEAr$, but in this case parents did not pay so I wouldn't think parents would not be able to take either.
