IRS Quick Alert says the first of the e-file acknowledgements will be out 11:00am local service center time on Sunday, 1/18/09. This is the earliest it ever has been. I know IRS began hub testing on Tuesday with live returns.

Guess I will miss the first efile date, as none of my tax clients have the documents, such as in W-2 forms.
No one lining up at my front door today!
Oh well, wish I could test the efile opening, but alas, I will have to wait until at least the end of January!

IRS Ack's
I have several into the Fresno service center, I'll post when I receive the Ack's from UTS.
My software support site indicates that Fresno has processed E-file, but no Ack's yet received from software company. I'm an indirect filer.Confucius say:

ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file
Providers/EROs
All Acknowledgement files will be released as scheduled today with the
exception of Austin's files. The Acknowledgement files for returns
transmitted to the Austin site will be delayed due to a processing problem.
Another Quick Alert will be issued with additional information when the
problem has been resolved.

I didn't sign up for that Quick-Alert dealie-thing you've got 'cause I've never known IRS to be quick about anything (didja see Jesse's note about Austin?) and so, they don't keep me posted.
But I promise to start readin' your posts real careful from now on.
By the way, that scalawag cohort of yours (J-H franchisee) down the street already had a dozen broke folks over there floggin' his door Saturday and RALin' away (or doin' one of those last check-stub loans). Come to think of it, are those loans are they actually doin' a tax return off that stub if it's got YTD info on it??
Looks like your bunch is off to a good start and Block only had one car in yesterday.

UTS (Software Co) indicates Fresno has acknowleaged all returns as of 3PM PST. So far have received no Ack's from UTS. I supect Fresno has acknowleadged all returns received since Friday 16th.Confucius say:
