Vista Home Premium OP w/ProSeries...

ProSeries users that have the Vista Home Premium operating system. Any compatibility issues with any of the ProSeries versions going back to 2004?

In case you didn't know

A computer can be set up (by someone who knows how which I don't) to run two operating systems and even I think run them at the same time although that is obviously even more complicated than setting them up so that they are run one at a time. I don't know if that is something that would benefit you or not but I thought I would throw it out as a possibility.

Even MS is coming out with Windows 7 because Vista they know stinks. Stick with WIN XP PRO would be my advice.taxea

If you have the option of using Windows XP you should definitely take it especially if you have the option of XP Pro or are going to be stuck with Vista Home. Vista Premium is poor but Home truly sets new standards of bad. Use any version of Vista if a new computer you have already acquired has it and you can't obtain a copy of XP or you want to run a Software Package that requires Vista..

XP Pro

I just purchased two new Dell computers and insisted on XP Pro.

I have heard too much negatives about Vista.

And always get the Pro version of any program. I bought a Dell XP Home several years ago and it stinks. Can't perform like the Pro version. Dell replaced the hard drive and it still isn't up to the Pro version.

I have Vista and with the ProSeries versions 2006 and before need to right click and "run as administrator" to open the programs and run properly. If I do this I have no problems, when I did not open this way the programs repeatedly shut down on me. Intuit may have fixed the problems, but I just continue to open the older versions this way to avoid problems.

Edit: I have the Vista Business edition - not the Home Premium.

VISTA Home Premium

I've bought a new 64-bit computer running VISTA Home Premium and had lots of intitial problems (including having to buy a new printer due to HP does not plan to develop a new driver for my old/reliable laser printer).

But, to answer your question. I can NOT open a 2006 Proseries (or before) program even if I do use the "run as administrator" option. I've still got my old computer with previous years versions of proseries on it. I'm done trying to figure out how to get the old software to work on the new computer. It is less aggravating to just run downstairs and use my former computer (and good/old printer).
