    EFIN Letter

I have always received a letter from IRS saying my EFIN was approved for the coming year. I have not received one this year. Is there any cause for concern? Should I wait until early January and then contact them?

      Approval is Automatic

I read somewhere that they were going to quit sending out letters unless there is a problem. If this is true, it is fair to assume that you may continue under your existing number unless notified to the contrary.

        EFIN Letter

Edsel is right. The IRS put out at notification that they would not be sending letters and one should make sure that their application is up to date. i.e. if you need to make any changes in where you file or what you file then check your application on e-services and submit an updated form. If you have no changes then your EFIN is current. taxea
