    Causalty Loss due to Wilma

One of my clients sent me an email saying that her neighbor who works for H & R Block says that they can claim loss of food stuff due to the hurricane. I am a bit shocked. Could some one shed some light on this issue

    Thanks

Sure. Spoilage due to power failure during hurricanes is common and is a casualty loss.

        Lost

Grocery lists seem reasonable. See IRS Workbook Pub 584. Something similar can be used to list what was lost.
