    Security and Privacy

In another thread about head butting after divorce, erchess was asking about subject and I didn't have any cites at hand here at home.

But here on my desk is IRS publication 4557 dated October 2008. It should be required reading for us all. Title of it is "Safeguarding Taxpayer Data", but it also covers and has links to privacy issues, in particular that Gramm Bleach Lilley bill to which I alluded down there.

Oh yes; don't forget to give out a copy of your privacy statement annually to clients!

    privacy letter

I just installed my new software and it prints out a privacy letter along with the return. I think that is great. I also have an engagement letter that I will have to figure out how to download it as one of the letter to be printed along with the return. I switched to Taxwise for this coming tax year.
I wish all of you a prosperous and successful New Year. Cheers.
