    RMD's

T/P turns 70.5 in 2008 and doesn't take his RMD in 2008, so he must take 2 in 2009 with the first by 4/1 and the 2nd later. BIG question - for the 4/1 RMD, what does he use for the FMV, the 12/31/2007 or can he use the 12/31/2008 FMV????

With the current down market it would be nice to use the 12/31/2008 FMV's.

you can postpone the distribution but not the calculation.

Currently legislation pending in Congress which may obviate the requirement of the RMD for 2009 distributions. Wait and see what our fearless leaders do in their Demember session before reaching any final decisions.

Shucks - I just don't want to take any this year. Still looking for a "loop hole".

If you are still working, and being on this board, I assume you do, and if you haven't been
funding a ROTH IRA, at least "roll" it over. You'll still get the 1099R of course, but the money will still be invested in this exciting time of market potential (ETMP! ; think I'll trademark that.)
