    Password for TB Message Board

I received a message to update my profile. Seems I never post my password for logging in. On the 2007 book there is a password on the last word of the index page. News to me. The password is good thru December 2008. The new password is on the confirmation of my order for 2008 TB--wherever that may be.
Is the Message Board being limited to purchasers of the TaxBook? I think it is about time the Message Board instituted such rules but this is the first time I have heard this.
    Are you aware of this?

I could not access this link to respond until I entered my password - good thing I kept my email confirmation for my 2008 order! Anyway, Brad posted the following near the end of March detailing the new policy:

Primary Forum for posting questions regarding tax issues. Message Board participants can then respond to your questions. You can also respond to questions posted by others. Please use the Contact Us link above for customer support questions.

I agree that the board needed to do this, as there were just too many DIY'ers posting questions here looking for free advice.

      Thanks KB

I guess I was too busy to notice this posting last March. I appreciate the link. Happy Thanksgiving.

The one difference is that now you need a passwork from purchasing TTB ... but in March he said "Everyone who is currently registered will be unaffected by the new policy."

Can someone still post that has not or are not going to purchase TTB? Many people has access to CCH and the like, they still would be beneficial posters.

          New password

After posting the access password, each year, everything should be like normal. In the instructions where you enter this board privilege password, there is a phone number to call. I would think that this would cure the problem of not purchasing the TTB.

Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".

            Used the old password.

I got the same notice Chief did, but got my password out of the 2007 book.

Have the '08 books been mailed? I ordered mine a while back, but if they have already been sent out then I've missed the boat somewhere.

The 2008 books are scheduled to ship starting December 15th. The old password will work until then. The new password is also in your 2008 order confirmation email. If your 2007 password expires before receiving your new book, and you lost your order confirmation email, call 1-866-919-5277 and customer service will give you the new password over the phone.

I had so much spam I was deleting hundreds at once until recently changing email addresses -- guess your confirmation was in there. No problem though, this works for now and I'll get the new one when the book arrives.

P.S. If the old one expires before the book arrives, I'll just shut up for a few days. That oughtta give a few boarders here a Happy Thanksgiving, if not a Merry Christmas.

Am I glad I decided to order TTB directly and not with a group of accountants as I did last year. What happens if one person orders 100 copies and distributes them but all the others don't have a confirmation?

Call the 1-866 number if your old password expires before getting your new book.

Well, at least I will have time using the old password before I need to find the new one. I have so many emails in so many accounts, that sometimes things are hard to find. I think I have been good about directing all tax related emails to one account....just a question of searching through.

                      Thanks

                        I also

have different folders for emails, and I specifically set up a folder for TaxBooks, so all emails pertaining to TaxBook are directed there. Without that I would be doing like you are now, but I found the password in about 2 seconds. Thank Goodness!

I guess it would help to set things up like that now, before I get busy with the season...

                          Thanks for the suggestion!

                              Signature Line

I believe this is set up as Brad's default signature line to satisfy Circular 230 requirements and gets attached to all his posts.

You can change your personal options to not show any signatures - I have done this to make the posts a little cleaner and easier to read. Just go to User CP in the upper left hand corner of the screen, click on "Edit Options", scroll down to the Thread Display Options, and un-check the box which says "Show Signatures."
