TurboTax where's my refund?

I think that is why they always quote such a small amount of support for the presidential donation...when I worked for a large firm, profx defaulted to 'no'. And most people don't know or care, or their preparers don't know or care.

My policy on Donations to Presidential campaign

My policy is don't ask, don't tell. I never ask the client and I never check the box.
If the client sees the box and wants to check it, that is his business. The only ones who have ever mentioned it have said they do NOT want to donate.

I suspect that the TP wasn't paying attention to what they were doing when they checked the box. May have thought it was like the contribution to the Presidential campaign funds on the federal return, it would come out of their taxes not their refund. Some HRB offices are also caught in this, though they deny any wrongdoing on their part.

I didn't even ask clients if they wanted to donate, I knew it would be too confusing and take too much time to explain it, so I ignored it and made sure none of the returns had the box checked. I double checked all of my clients returns, and no inadvertant selection of the donation checkbox.

Yes indeed, an Intuit thing

I'm still waiting for my refund from Lacerte for the 07 Auto Souce Doc data entry system that I prepaid for back in May 07. Shortly thereafter they announced they are discontinuing the product. I'm still waiting for my refund. Is Intuit having cash-flow problems? Is the cash flow from the prof tax prep being transfered to corporate?

That's apparently Intuit Corp policy. Lacerte users are regularly told that they are the only user with a problem.

It looks like Turbo Tax will be losing some OR customers. It's disappointing they won't admit any possibility of errors. At a minimum, they should have offered to examined the returns of those posting and pay for the error. Don't they offer some kind of error-proof guaranty in their advertising?

Here's another article on the problem. Funny, in the excerpt Turbo Tax says they haven't received any complaints. I know they read the other Blog since they posted, I guess those don't count as complaints? OR has asked those affected to contact them (as suggested by Turbo Tax), with no promises of issuing refunds to those affected.

In Oregon if the state's tax receipts exceed their projection by a certain percentage the state must refund the excess.

This year taxpayers who had a tax in 2006 received an 18.6% refund this month.

Needless to say this makes taxpayers very happy and the State very sad. We put it into our constitution by initiaive so the state couldn't mess with it. Although if you feel guilty about getting your own money back the state allows you to donate it.

Anyhoo, apparently some ppl who used TurboTax in 2006 didn't get a refund but a nice thank you letter ftom the state.
