Good day. I hope all are well...
My client, a NJ resident and family man was working for a CT-based company.
Due to COVID, office visits were once monthly, plus a few other days for approximately 15-21 days (at the very most). His return was originally prepared without the Credit for Other Jurisdictions (COJ) taken into account. Not to mention the # of days.
Subsequently, the client paid $10k (with interest), about $8k more than they should have.
An Amended return was processed to address the error but found the client unknowingly signed CT Form AU-903FP while trying to do the right thing. He assumed he owed the money and paid it. But, in doing so, he signed this form not understanding the full consequences of his actions (since he was led to believe he owed it).
Thoughts??
