On Oct 16, IRS extends CA disaster postponement to Nov 16

    Just came across IRS Newswire

Except for 3 smallish counties, all of CA had previously received postponement to Oct 16 for all regular 1040 and business entity filings and payments, including estimated tax payments. (this was already a change from the original postponements announce back in Jan/Feb time frame).

Pretty amazing that on the morning of the postponed/extended due date, they announce another month.

Not clear if the California FTB will conform, they might have been caught off guard, who knows. This whole thing has already affected the state budget, since so much tax revenue was not received in the normal Apr time frame so didn't get counted for the fiscal year.

This group of disaster-affected taxpayers may be the largest group that the IRS has ever had to deal with, not sure how it compares to other disaster postponements.
