TP died 1/10/2018.
As most know, SSI, specifically retirement benefits, are paid in arrears. Meaning you receive the income post "earning" it. TP got small 2018 SSA-1099 amt, for reporting. I prepared 2017 and filed as "final", with the date of death.
TP had Living trust, actual final SSI payment went to subsequently created trust as planned and written in the living trust (I have copy). Everything has worked as directed.
Question. Does this final SSA-1099 get reported on 2018 1040. One is required because other income with withholding took place. I have advised trustee her duty to file 2018 1040 to claim small (less than $25) refund. Or does 2018 SSA-1099 go to 1041 of trust as IRD.
