My client filed his own tax return already. In 2017 he donated some mutual fund shares to a donor-advised fund. He included this contribution in his cash contributions to charity. After sending the return, he realized a Form 8283 should be completed. I'm not sure there would be any tax consequences if reported under the 8283. Would you recommend an amended return, or just leave it alone?
